Earth

I've been on a kick the past couple of days.  I have been watching a ton of NatGeo videos about climbing, national parks and planet earth, and I just have to say the Earth is such an amazing place (incase you haven't noticed.) There is unlimited amounts of beauty and wonderment to be found, places very close to home like Yosemite National Park or Zion, to places far away like the Himalayas or the Arabian Peninsula.  The Earth is so…

SoCal 6-Pack

So after looking at the numbers it doesn't look like I am going to be able to get in the lost coast before I leave.  It is just too expensive to drive up there and have to pay for a shuttle back.  So I started looking for something a little closer to home and I decided to attempt the SoCal 6-pack.  The SoCal 6-pack is the 6 tallest peaks in Southern California.  They are Mt. Wilson (5,712'), Mt Cucamonga (8,859'),…

Switzer Falls

I have such a fun group of friends here in Cali, friends that I am going to miss dearly.  My little hiking group is one of those.  My friend Kyle always organized the weekly trips and the group varies from week to week, but when you break it down it is always the same. Great people.  Beautiful nature. Escape. Today we ventured to Switzer Falls in the San Gabriel Mountains.  It is a quick 9 mile drive into the Angeles…

It was such a lovely day, the weather was perfect at 75, if it had been any hotter it would have been brutal.  The hike was kind of difficult because of the elevation increase and the fact that I am really out of shape.  At the…

Hiking the Bridge to Nowhere

This past Monday a group of us went out to the San Gabriel mountains and hiked the bridge to nowhere.  The hike itself is moderately easy with subtle inclines and shaded paths. If you haven't hike a lot before you will feel the hike in your legs the next day.  The trail is just over 9 miles long and ends with this random bridge in the middle of nowhere, hence the name.  Apparently there is bungie jumping off the bridge,…
